I started with Ashley because I had a lot of pain in my hip from osteoarthritis. It was really impacting my life, I could barely walk a block, I wasn't sleeping and it was really taking a toll on me physically and mentally. Traditional medical treatments were not providing me any relief from my pain and I wasn't sure what my next steps would be. A friend recommended I see Ashley and I am forever grateful for his referral. Ashley worked with me on my diet, mobility, flexibility and strength. It wasn't easy and it took a mind shift for me to slow down and focus on the core issues within my body. After working with her for 6 months I am feeling so much better. I have been holding off on a trip to Europe because I couldn't walk, but now I am planning that trip for this fall. Ashley will give you all the tools you need to help you with whatever your goals are but you still need to do the work. If you listen to what she says, do what she tells you to do and embrace change in your life you will see results working with her. She will work with you on your specific problem. She doesn't have one program for everyone. She is committed to understanding her clients and what their specific needs are and designing a program for them. I have worked with many personal trainers throughout my life and Ashley has been the best fit for me - she is knowledgeable, motivating and adjusts your program to meet you where you are.

I was introduced to Ashley from Black Heron from a friend of mine who just said, you have to try it out. I have not ever had a personal trainer although not a stranger of the gym, I exercised every day, although most exercises were designed by physiotherapists to rehab some injury.
I had an initial consult and found out what the purpose of the program is. My goal was to get all the markers I was tested for to get into the normal category. Basically, having my body in alignment. It took about 6 months and I had most of the markers in the normal zone. For the first time, I was getting out in front of exercise to set a new bar, not just rehabbing.
My body had never felt better, mobility had increased, and I can stand in one spot for 10 minutes without having to shift my weight from feeling pain. I played golf 4 and 5 consecutive days, where for years I could only play 2 consecutive days due to pain.
I still exercise daily under supervision of Ashley’s videos and feel stronger all the time. I highly recommend working with Black Heron as you will have numerous long run benefits.

3 years in with Ashley, I am fitter, stronger, faster!! Sessions are varied and planned for what is right for my body and what I want to achieve. Ashley holds me to account which includes exercise, food and fun. I am no expert in the field of body mechanics and what is best however the program and support that Ashley has driven over the last 3 years has been wonderful for improving my health.
The obvious outcomes for me have been: golf game improved, posture and flexibility improved, Stronger Ski legs…… Ashley is continually introducing appropriate and new techniques that work for me.
Ashley’s style is energizing, empathetic and can do! Honestly, I really do enjoy my sessions.
